As the head of the Ministry of Education and Science, Dmitry Livanov, told Izvestia , it is proposed to increase 18% of scholarships to full-time students who have estimates “excellent” and “good”, as well as increase the volume of payment of state academic scholarships by 20% of senior students with achievements in educational, scientific, cultural, creative or sports fields.
“We believe that the level of scholarships is insufficient in our country,” the minister emphasized. “In a difficult economic situation that is currently developing, we invited the government to index the scholarship fund for the next year.”
According to Livanov, the alleged norm can enter into force on September 1, 2015.
According to the current decree of the government, the scholarship of students of secondary vocational education institutions in the training programs for workers, employees and secondary specialists is 487 rubles a month, the minimum scholarship in universities - 2010 rubles a month. For students studying on the training programs for scientific and pedagogical personnel, the minimum scholarship is 2637 rubles (6.33 thousand rubles for students in technical and natural areas of training).
According to official statistics, in Russia there are up to 2.7 thousand institutions of secondary vocational education, about 2 million people participate in them, the number of students of 969 Russian universities is about 5.7 million people.
