The court forgave Navalny for escaping from house arrest

The Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow refused to consider materials on Alexei Navalny's violation of the house arrest regime. The Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) sent the relevant act to the court, but it was returned to the penitentiary inspectorate.

“The submission of the Federal Penitentiary Service against Navalny was returned, since the verdict has already been passed and the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation are not applicable in this case,” said court spokeswoman Yulia Petrova.

• On the morning of December 30, the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow sentenced Alexei Navalny to 3.5 years of suspended imprisonment in the Yves Rocher case. His brother Oleg received 3.5 years of real time. Before the verdict came into force, Oleg was taken into custody, and Alexei was left under house arrest.
• In the evening, Alexei Navalny, violating the house arrest regime, went to the center of Moscow to take part in an uncoordinated rally of his supporters on Manezhnaya Square. Shortly after he got off the metro and went to the square along Tverskaya Street, he was detained by the police. Navalny was put in a paddy wagon and taken back home, guards were posted at the apartment.
