They came to Theater.doc with searches

The police came with searches to the Moscow theater of the documentary play “Teatr.doc,” director Vsevolod Lisovsky told Novaya.

Currently (00:30 Moscow time) the theater premises are sealed, and computers, a projector and other property are confiscated. Lisovsky and Ukrainian playwright Maxim Kurochkin are taken to the police station by the police.

As a theater employee located next to the Teatra.doc building on Trekhprudny Lane told Mediazona, the search began after the audience was evacuated from the premises.

This evening, during the screening of the film “Stronger than Guns” about the Maidan, law enforcement officers came to the theater and announced that a bomb had been planted in the building. The spectators' documents were checked, and then all theater spectators were evacuated. Later it became known that law enforcement agencies found some item in the building that was sent for examination, Gazeta.Ru reports .

The artistic director of the theater, Mikhail Ugarov, wrote on Facebook that during the search, the police temporarily removed all residents of the building where Teatr.doc is located from their apartments.

“I have to go to the Ministry of Culture with all the documents and explain why we showed a foreign film that does not have a distribution certificate. Although according to the law we have the right to do this,” Gremina told Interfax. According to Maxim Kurochkin, she was called by the head of the control department in the field of cultural heritage objects, Georgy Sytenko.

On December 26, Gremina announced that Teatr.doc would move to the outbuilding of the Savin-Zakrevsky estate on Spartakovskaya Street and performances would begin there in February. In October, the Moscow City Property Department unilaterally terminated the lease agreement with the theater due to the “illegal redevelopment” of part of the premises in the basement of the residential building where Teatr.doc is located.
