In Kyiv, a suspect was detained in an attack on Lifenews journalists, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports. "Law enforcement officers detained the suspecting person. Now the man is charged with two criminal offenses," the report said.

It is noted that a man may be punished under Part 1 of Art. 171 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obstruction of the legal professional activity of journalists) and part 2 of Art. 186 (robbery).

The attack on the Lifenews film crew was committed during the torch procession in honor of Stepan Bandera's birthday. The incident occurred after the journalist Zhanna Karpenko went on live and spoke about the event held in Kyiv.

"To the correspondent of the Lifenews television channel, Jeanne Karpenko and its operator were attacked during a torch marriage in the Ukrainian capital. Unknown people who hid the masks, pushed the journalist and took away the telephone from her, after which they took the television camp from the operator Alexandra Ulyanova and defeated the equipment," the press service of the television company said.

The deputy head of the press department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called the attack on Russian journalists "egregious fact of persecution", to which the international journalistic community, human rights activists and anti -fascist organizations should respond.
