The US Department of Finance imposed new sanctions against the DPRK after a hacker attack on the website of the Sony Pictures film studio. This was reported on the website of the department. Such a measure was adopted by order of President Barack Obama.
The sanctions were found by the General Bureau of Intelligence and two trade organizations: the Korean trade corporation for the development of the mining industry (Komid) and the Korean Trade Corporation Tangun. As noted, Komid is the main North Korean company leading weapons. "Tangun", according to the United States, plays a major role in the supply of necessary products and technologies for the implementation of Pyongyang defense programs.
Also, the sanctions list includes 10 individuals. These are government officials and representatives of Komid and Tangun. None of the senior leadership of North Korea is on the list, however,.
The Sony Pictures website was attacked after the publication on the Internet of the Interview comedy, which was shot by this studio. The film tells about the attempt on the leader of the DPRK Kim Jong -un.
Washington accused North Korea of attack on the site. Pyongyang rejects the prosecution.
