In Kamchatka, the highest active volcano of Eurasia - Klyuchevskaya began to erupt, the height of the fountains of Lava reaches a kilometer over the crater, TASS was told in the Volcanological Observatory of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the RAS in the village of Klyuchi.
“Klyuchevsky crater is filled with fresh lava. Rare and low emissions. The volcano is gradually growing,” the Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences noted. “Continuous volcanic trembling, glow over the crater and thermal anomaly are observed.”
The volcano is awarded the yellow aviation hazard code. Its activity can be a danger to aircraft flying at an altitude of up to 6 thousand meters above sea level.
According to specialists of the Kamchatka response group to volcanic eruptions (Kvert), the period of the so -called strombolyian activity has begun on Klyuchevsky: "Now the number of small earthquakes is increasing. From December 31 to January 4, the volcano has been closed. However, the satellite data showed the presence of a thermal abnormalities above the volcano."
Klyuchevskaya (4750 m above sea level) is one of the most active volcanoes of the planet. His eruptions usually occur once every 5 - 6 years. It is located 360 km northeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
The last eruption of the giant occurred from August to December 2013. The height of the emissions reached 8 thousand meters above sea level. The loss of volcanic particles was recorded in a number of settlements of the Ust-Kamchatka district. In October 2013, Lava, flowing along the slope of Klyuchevsky, melted the glacier of Erman. The streams of water spilled into the student’s river and washed the road leading to the Ust-Kamchatka district.
