The attack in the editors of Charlie Hebdo: 12 killed

12 people were killed in Paris as a result of a terrorist attack in the office of the Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine, the Le Monde website reports. Another 11 people are injured, four of them are in critical condition. According to preliminary data, the publisher of the magazine Sharb (Stefan Sharbonya), the famous cartoonists of Tinyus (Bernard Verlak), Jean Kabu and Georges Vololinsky, the economic observer Bernard Marie were killed. Two policemen were killed - one of them constantly guarded Sharba, the second was killed on the street while trying to detain criminals.

At about 11:30, two terrorists with Kalashnikov assault rifles and a grenade launcher entered the editorial office in the 11th district of Paris, where a weekly fly passes along the Wednesdays. Some employees managed to run out to the roof. According to eyewitnesses, shortly after shooting, the building left two terrorists in black with closed faces. It is assumed that the accomplice was waiting for them in the car.

Leaving the office, the terrorists entered the shootout with the police, and then disappeared by the car. In the video from the scene you can hear the terrorists shout "Allah Akbar!" In another video , the words are heard: "We took revenge on the prophet, we killed Charlie Hebdo!"

Police pursued a terrorist car for 15 minutes. On Sadi-Elekuant Street in the 19th district, the criminals moved to someone else's car and managed to hide from the chase.

France President Francois Hollande arrived at the scene. "We must act harshly, but with concern for national unity. We are experiencing a difficult moment, several terrorist attacks were prevented, we knew that we are under threat, since we are a free country. We will punish the attackers," Hollande said. He canceled all the events and holds an emergency meeting of the government. It is expected that in the evening the head of state will make a television personality.

In the entire metropolitan region, the level of terrorist threat is increased to maximum, all extra -curricular events have been canceled in schools.

Charlie Hebdo is a satirical left -wing week, founded in 1970. In addition to Charlie Hebdo caricatures, publishes journalistic investigations. In 2006, the publication reprinted cartoons for the Prophet Muhammad, which appeared in the Danish edition of Jyllands-Posten. On November 2, 2011, the special issue of Charia Hebdo was released ("Shalria weekly"). After that, the editorial office was committed, the journalists received threats, the site of the publication was hacked. Since the end of 2011, the Charlie Hebdo office has been under round -the -clock police guard.

The attack on the editorial office of Charlie Hebdo has become the largest terrorist attack in the recent history of France. In 1995, during the explosion at the Saint-Michel metro station, 8 people were killed, 117 were injured.
