Alexander Lukashenko visited the Orthodox Church in Minsk on Christmas

The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko visited the Cathedral of the Holy Dukhov Cathedral in Minsk on January 7, noting the great contribution of the Belarusian Orthodox Church to the strengthening of peace in the country. He expressed confidence that the state would always be peaceful and calm.

“You can rely on the state, power. You can always be sure that in our country it will be peaceful and calm. We guarantee it,” TASS quoted the president’s words.

Lukashenko wished everyone good, peace in families, in the country, and most importantly - in souls. “I congratulate all our Belarusians, all our friends, brothers, neighbors. I also wish them peace and kindness and, most importantly, the world of our native southern neighbor,” he said. “We will do everything so that there is peace and tranquility in the souls and hearts of these people who are close to us.”

The president, together with his youngest son, lit candles at the icon of the Minsk Mother of God, and also handed over to the Gift of the Belarusian Orthodox Church a Christmas gift - a silver panel made in the coinage technique, which depicts the Cross -Council in Polotsk.

The Crusads of the Cathedral, built in 1893, is part of the complex of the Trans-Efrosinievsky Monastery in Polotsk. This cathedral stores the relics of the patroness of Belarusians - the Monk Euphrosyne of Polotsk.
