In France, 21 attacks on Muslims were counted after the terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo.

In France, attacks on Muslims have increased sharply after the attack on the editorial office of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo.

According to the organization lʼObservatoire contre lʼislamophobie at the Council of Muslims of France, 21 cases of attacks (including with the use of firearms) and 33 cases of threats and insults were registered throughout the country in 4 days. Moreover, these statistics do not take into account incidents in Paris and its suburbs.

The head of the organization, Abdalla Zekri, called the given figures unprecedented. For comparison, in the first 9 months of 2014, 110 such incidents were registered in France.

“I am shocked by the rise of Islamophobia. Yesterday, we all calmly walked the streets [during the march in memory of the victims of the attacks], side by side, and we unequivocally condemned terrorism,” said Abdalla Zekri (FR).

The Paris office of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo was attacked on 7 January. Terrorists - brothers Sherif and Said Kouashi - killed 12 people. The next day, terrorist accomplice Amedee Coulibaly shot and killed a police officer in the city of Montrouge near Paris.

At the same time, Coulibaly took over a kosher grocery store in eastern Paris. As a result of special operations, all the terrorists were killed. 4 hostages died in the store.
The day after the terrorist attack at the Charlie Hebdo office, the French prosecutor's office spoke about several attacks on mosques. In the city of Le Mans, unidentified persons fired at the window of a mosque and threw three stun grenades into the courtyard. In the commune of Port-la-Nouvelle near Narbonne, several shots were fired towards the prayer hall. In the city of Villefranche-sur-Saone, an explosion occurred at a store located next to a mosque. As a result of all these incidents, no one was injured.
