The Jerusalem District Court allowed the extradition to Russia of a priest from St. Petersburg, Gleb Grozovsky, who is suspected in Russia of seducing minors. Grozovsky's defense has already announced its intention to appeal this decision to the Israeli High Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights.
The defense during the debate argued that the priest was being persecuted for political and religious reasons and the norms of the convention were not applicable to him. The lawyer asked the court before making a decision on extradition to oblige the competent Israeli authorities to delve into the essence of the ongoing investigation in Russia.
