A participant in a gathering against ethnic crime was detained in St. Petersburg

In St. Petersburg, the police detained on January 18 during a street action the leader of the People's Social Initiative, Dmitry Bobrov. According to Fontanka, he was taken to the 76th police department after a gathering against ethnic crime on Tavricheskaya Street. Bobrov claims that he was detained after he left the gathering. According to him, he announced the end of the action after the crowd began to chant "Evict!" and the police gave them a warning. The police drew up a report on him for a violation at a public event (Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) and left him in custody overnight. Since July 2014, Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses has included the possibility of punishment in the form of arrest, which allows the police to extend the period of detention without trial for detainees under this article from the standard three to 48 hours.
