I remember how in August 1991 the editor -in -chief of the famous democratic publication, speaking on TV, literally shouted: “It is no coincidence that the organizers of the coup on all channels showed the Swan Lake! But now they should replace ordinary young people who have an ideal-“McDonald's”, hip-hop and jeans! ” That is, when someone listens to the “appassionate”, he will inevitably arrange a putsch sooner or later. But when a person has good food and clothes, he will be virtuous, quiet and peaceful. He will never want great shocks, and Great Russia will be useless to him.

In my distant drawers, the tables are still lying around the piles of the cold, yellowed sheets - the concept of magazines and newspapers created in the calculation of an imaginary middle class. They were written in different years, but they seemed to be propagated on a photocopy: “We focus on the one who receives per month (fit the right one). He refers to people who are interested in politics. Above all, he puts his well -being. The only thing that interests him is consumption, and our goal is to help him consume. ”

These hopes bloomed against the backdrop of the complete lack of ideology, alternative to the one that the authorities proposed at some point. For decades in a row, propaganda of democratic values ​​looked like this: “I am landing at the airport of Paris (London, Barcelona),” said a famous journalist, director or writer. “I see the border guards who smile at me.” And in our country, a person in uniform every minute is ready to humiliate you. We are going along the autobahn among polite and sober drivers. What a horror in comparison with this highway is the one on which I go from my cottage to Moscow! We are talking with the local Minister of Defense. This is a young smiling girl. She herself pours me tea and tells me that every morning, like other citizens, she goes to work on a scooter and personally grows an environmentally friendly tournament in the courtyard of her house. I tell her that in Russia, gloomy muzzles are sitting in the bosses in uniforms, which only think how to build a mansion and rekindle the world war. "Is this really that!" - She sincerely does not believe ... "

This resonance did great harm. There is the basics of psychology: if you want to teach a person or weaning something from something, you must first of all explain to him that he is beautiful, that he has many advantages (and mention real ones) and that to cope with some shortcomings for him is not difficult, but necessary. What are psychologists: Any sane mother who has a child will agree that if you repeat your son every day: “You are doing poorly, but Vasya gets one of the class from your class,” the child will nod stupidly and gloomily, but sooner or later he will definitely try to beat Vasya.

In general, the hopes of the intelligentsia for a good layman were strong. The program proposed to him is weak. There is a huge disappointment in it. I remember how four years ago a certain famous lady engaged in sociology was amazed in a conversation with me: “It was clear to everyone that the youth was apolitical and only wanted to have fun, and then suddenly the arena fed!” (This is about nationalists).

At some point, Putin seemed to say to the Democrats: “Go away, this is now my middle class, my layman!” But he spoke, appealing to the complexes and dreams that roamed in the minds of people. It was found that they would not refuse the struggle and exploits (which are best observed on TV, although someone is ready and personally participate). Right now, when for the first time in a hundred years they were full and dressed, they wanted to think about higher matters.

Their consciousness is contradictory. In the tales of “Thousand and One Nights” there is an enchanted hero who is half from the flesh and blood, and half of the stone. Communicating with many people, you discover this duality, this line, as if cutting them in half. You are talking about the vacation, raising children - and in front of you is a calm, sensible interlocutor. But as soon as it comes to higher matters, you talk with the other half, which suffers and rushes in fantastic abysses. A person who carefully chooses a car (as if not to overpay) is ready to easily maintain the collection of some lands that he will not immediately find on the map.

Zhenya Pishchikova wrote about people who, due to loans, ran to Ukraine to fight. And really. I have a familiar French journalist, he literally did not get out of Donbass last spring. According to him, many there supported the separatists for the most primitive reason - people are literally according to the ears of Zaks, and they have the calculation that the war will be written off in the literal sense of the word. "Volunteers left for a credit war!" The consciousness of our contemporary is torn. On the one hand, there is a desire for peaceful consumer life with cars, slow cooks, washing machines. On the other hand, sincere readiness of the world to shreds to smash, so as not to pay for this slow cooker.

I can add that a few years ago I studied the results of hundreds of questions, according to which more than half of the respondents bitterly spared about the collapse of the Soviet Union. And again, more than half expressed a categorical unwillingness to live in the same country with Uzbeks or Tajiks. This is to the question of imperial moods ...

In fact, in the fall of 1991, when the union broke up, many rejoiced that now we would get off from the fourteen parasites who are sitting on our neck and even “thank you” do not say. I remember some old man shouted in the television camera: "Why should we feed different Mahmudes?" And this has not changed. Such sentiments can take any form - both centripetal and centrifugal, from "the time has come to recreate the Great Empire!" Before "we do not need no one, we will live alone!" Therefore, if, say, Novorossia is finally surrendered and explain on TV that Russia should only take care of its own citizens, and various insidious Ukrainians and Belarusians should be given their own (undoubtedly woeful) fate, this will be perceived quite with understanding.

At the same time, it is hardly worth expecting a massive request for democratic institutions. Independent courts, free press, honest elections - all this is perceived almost as an attribution of enemies.

And here the main trouble is the lack of dialogue. This is clearly visible through social networks. How do people argue? Here someone wrote: “Ahead is an economic crisis due to unprofessional actions of the government. The inflation rate is likely to exceed 20%, the banking sector awaits the catastrophe. ” And he receives in response: “The one who writes does not love his homeland. How can you not love your homeland? Anyone who does not love his homeland is not able to love his mother! "

Pishchikova wrote : “Parts of society repulsed from each other. And in the middle - black water. " But these repulsive parts have not only common interests, but also a common language, a single conceptual apparatus. Therefore, anyone who begins to carry out any reforms in the country must begin, first of all, with the fact to find this common language for the country. Or invent it again.
