Medvedev replaced the head of Roscosmos

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev replaced the head of Roskosmos. The federal agency was headed by Igor Komarov, who also manages the United Rocket and Space Corporation.

Komarov will unite these departments. A single state corporation will be created on their basis. Komarov promised to submit a bill on its creation by the end of January.

“I hope that during this transitional period you will take all the necessary measures for the stable operation of both the industry itself and the agency, which will eventually be transformed ... into a finally structured corporation,” Medvedev said.

• Since October 2013, Roscosmos has been headed by Oleg Ostapenko. Medvedev said that after his resignation there would be a job for him in the space industry.
• Igor Komarov has been in charge of the United Rocket and Space Corporation since March 2014, when the organization was created. Prior to that, he worked at Rostekhnologii, banks, and also served as deputy head of Roscosmos for six months.
