35 years ago, January 22, 1980, Academician Andrei Sakharov was exiled without a trial to Gorky, then closed to foreigners. He associated a link with his speeches against the introduction of Soviet troops into Afghanistan. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council, he was deprived of the title of three times Hero of Socialist Labor, and by a decree of the Council of Ministers - the title of laureate of the state and Leninist prizes. However, an attempt to deprive him of the title of academician failed. During the link, which continued until the end of 1986, Sakharov held three hunger strikes.
