TASS CEO Sergei Mikhailov explained the mass layoffs of employees by the fact that "a global breakthrough in terms of both qualitative and quantitative indicators of work" has not happened over the past two years. According to Mikhailov, the agency has never learned how to earn more than spend: the main product - news - remains uncompetitive.
His words are given on a closed TASS resource, to which only employees have access. The text is at the disposal of Meduza.
“We publish an average of one piece of news for two people, this piece of news costs at least 3,000 rubles, we have very little exclusive, well-cited information. We still follow news trends, but do not shape them,” said Sergey Mikhailov.
As the top manager said, now up to 100% of the agency's entire budget is spent on salaries, which is unacceptable. In this regard, mass layoffs are planned at TASS (according to Gazeta.ru, a quarter of employees will be fired ). Separate divisions will be disbanded completely. The departments of video and infographics will be fired entirely.
The rest of the employees will have their salaries cut by 20% and work will be added. According to Mikhailov, those who do not agree to such conditions can quit and receive three salaries (if they report their dismissal before February 13) or five salaries, quitting within a week.
