- In the federal law "On space activities" its goals are: promoting the economic development of the state, improving the welfare of the population through the effective use of space technologies; development of the scientific, technical and intellectual potential of the space industry; assistance in strengthening the defense and security of the country; accumulation of scientific knowledge about the Earth, outer space and celestial bodies; development of international cooperation in order to integrate Russia into the system of world economic relations.
- The appointment of Igor Komarov as head of Roscosmos was announced on January 21. Komarov also heads the United Rocket and Space Corporation (URSC). On the basis of Roskosmos and URSC, it was decided to create a joint state corporation.
