Apple acquired music analytics service MusicMetric

Apple has acquired the British company Semetric, which owns the analytical music service MusicMetric, reports the Look At Me portal.

According to the British newspaper The Guardian , the deal took place last year, but it became known only now, from Semetric documents, in which the company's legal address was changed to Apple's address in California.

The cost of the deal was not disclosed, however, according to the Financial Times , it could be up to $50 million.

MusicMetric offers services to musicians and labels, helping them track how their music is being distributed - through iTunes sales, BitTorrent downloads, YouTube views and Spotify plays. The service has partnership agreements with Spotify and Last.fm, but whether they will continue to operate after its purchase by Apple is still unclear.

FT journalists believe that MusicMetric could become part of the Beats service, also acquired by Apple last year.
