
The human rights center "Memorial" recognized Oleg Navalny by a political prisoner.
In a statement on the website of the Memorial, human rights activists note that they consider the criminal prosecution of opposition Alexei Navalny and his brother Oleg in the case of Yves Roche "politically motivated and illegal.
According to human rights activists, their position is based on the fact that the obvious political motive is traced in criminal prosecution: the termination of Alexei’s public activity, the elimination of the threats that his activities create the current government. Also, according to the "Memorial", there was no corpus delicti in the actions of the Navalny brothers. "It was ordinary economic activity, disputes in connection with which they could and should have been resolved in a civil law basis," the memorial statement said.

On December 30, the Zamoskvoretsky court of Moscow found the brothers Alexei and Oleg Navalny guilty of embezzlement of funds in the company "Yves Rocher". Alexey Navalny received three and a half years in prison, his brother Oleg is the same period with serving a sentence in a colony.
On January 15, the European Parliament approved a resolution on "unreasonable accusations", on the basis of which the Navalny brothers were convicted . The document emphasizes that the criminal prosecution of an opposition activist who fights corruption looks like politically motivated.
