Vladimir Ionov was charged

Vladimir Ionov, who, according to OVD-Info, became the first person to whom the article introduced in 2014 in the Criminal Code for violations at rallies is applied, was officially charged today. The head of the AGORA Association, Pavel Chikov, reported this on Twitter with reference to Ionov’s lawyer Olga Chavdar.

“Today Vladimir Ionov has been charged under Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia (“Repeated violation of the established procedure for organizing or holding a meeting, rally, demonstration, procession or picketing”).”

On January 16, it became known that a criminal case had been initiated against activist Vladimir Ionov under Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code, and he was ordered not to leave.

Previously, he was fined 170 thousand rubles for events on January 10 and 15. On January 10, Ionov was detained on Manezhnaya Square during a single picket with a “Je suis Charlie” poster.
