
16 people (including a 12-year-old girl) were killed and 83 were injured on Saturday in the morning during the shelling of Mariupol by militants of the DPR, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reports . Only one of the dead was a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The city authorities reported that the city was fired from the rocket lamp "Grad". According to the headquarters of the ATO "M", which cites the website of the Mariupol City Council, on Saturday morning the territory of the Vostochny microdistrict was fired by militants of the "Donetsk People’s Republic" from the settlements of Sakhanka and Zaicichenko.
Earlier, representatives of the Public Organization "Defense of Mariupol" also reported on Facebook that on Saturday morning, shelling of the eastern outskirts of the city was being sheated. At the same time, they emphasized that "there is no direct threat of capture or attack on the city."
On the eve of the intention of militants to take Mariupol, the commander of the Kyiv-1 battalion, Evgeny Deadei, reported. "After the statement of Zakharchenko about the intention to take Mariupol, in the regions adjacent to the city, terrorists began the offensive with tanks. I do not exclude that the active attacks of the Separs in other sectors of the ATO - a distracting maneuver," he wrote on Facebook.
On Friday, the head of the self -proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, said that the militants intend to advance up to the administrative borders of the region and will no longer attempt to talk with the Ukrainian side about a truce.
