Golikova did not rule out checking Rosneft for currency speculation

The oil and gas company Rosneft may be checked for currency speculation. Chairman of the Accounts Chamber Tatyana Golikova spoke about this on January 28. According to her, the Accounts Chamber is creating a program to verify the use of funds aimed at additional capitalization, but used in currency games.

“We are now trying to build such an inspection program... we will be doing this for the first time, and we, on instructions from the State Duma, must monitor from beginning to end, that is, the Ministry of Finance, the relevant bank, the bank’s decision, the movement of these funds and only then the sale of funds. This is quite a meticulous thing,” said Golikova.

At the same time, answering questions from journalists whether such an inspection would be carried out in relation to Rosneft, Golikova noted that conducting inspections of state-owned companies is a very difficult matter, but did not rule out similar actions in relation to Rosneft.

“We have formed a work plan for 2015. I do not rule out that there will be Rosneft,” said the chairman of the Accounts Chamber.
