The St. Petersburg Rock Group Bungalow Bums is better known in Europe because their track “ Liar ( PZDBL )” was lit up at the end of last year at the collection of Classic magazine Rock " Riders on The Storm ", and their third plate" Lawless Days in Reservation ”is released by the respected German rock-label Nasoni Records. Bungalow Bums comes from Omsk, a city that gave the most famous Russian psychedelic rock band “Civil Defense”, but there is nothing specifically Omsk, “Letovsky” in the songs of the group (except for the fabric abbreviation PZDBL ). Bungalow Bums play what is called “rock with eggs” (for some reason in Russia, this genre is unpopular, especially among young groups)-a dirty blues-rock, a little psychedelic gmari, a little staged American and testosterone vocals, which gives the influence of Jim Morrison and Lemmy Kilmister. In some places, their songs, stubborn and stubborn, sound a little naively, recalling children's games in cowboys and Indians, which took place in the panel courtyards of Siberian reservations. On the other hand, in this boyish naivety there is their charm - well, let these Indians are not real, but in beautiful feathers:

The most beautiful in the Bungalow Bums group is that they involve others in their games. Together with the friendly team Stereo Siberia The group organized the psychedelic festival "Horses" in St. Petersburg, which is already planning an exit Moscow session and summer Openare.

The leader of the Bungalow Bums Vadim Sukharev talked about how the group was noticed in Europe, and about who the leader in Russian psychedelic rock is now.

The group gathered in Omsk eight years ago - in September 2006. At first they played something like a garage, but always gravitors to psychedelic rock. This is probably Siberian influence - in Siberia nature itself is for psychedelia. In 2007-2009, the musical diaspora Omsk began to move to Peter, gradually we moved. There are many reasons: in Omsk it’s bad, there is no work, the salaries are bad. The third album "Lawless Days in Reservation" we recorded already in St. Petersburg.

Not all participants in Bungalow Bums have experienced the influence of "civil defense". For example, our guitarist, who is originally from Petropavlovsk, is indifferent to Letov. And I and our first bassist grew up on his songs. We had like everyone else: we played the songs of the “coffin” in crossings. Three people from Bungalow Bums were at the funeral of Yegor Letov in 2008, and this was the only time I saw him. But in the music of our “coffin”, it is not too noticeable, it is more manifested in my solo work. Letov influenced us as a person, and we love his songs.

We began to sing in English, because when we started in Omsk, most local groups played the wrong music that we liked. The Russian language was one of the reasons why it sounded “Kondovo” for us. Then we turned to the blues, and I am still sure that the blues and the Russian language are a bad combination. Some commentators of VKontakte write that we simply cannot write in Russian. But I have more than 250 verses in Russian. I have been writing them from the age of 14. For me, there is separately poetry in Russian and separately - the music that I play. We do not want to sing only for Russian people - we want to sing for everyone, so we use the most universal language.

Once I went to the DISCOGS portal and looked at the labels where the groups and similar to them were published on us. He created a database of labels, which we could be potentially interesting - about 150 addresses - and made a newsletter. The German label Nasoni Records responded first-they released the founding fathers of the German Stonener Color Haze , the less famous Vibravoid and the CAUSA SUI group very beloved by me. It is believed that this label laid the road to many newcomers of psychodel and forecast. Now we are waiting for the circulation of our record from Germany.

This is probably Siberian influence - in Siberia nature itself is for psychedelia.

Our track compilation of the Classic Rock magazine was accidentally. On Facebook, I was written by one of the editors of the magazine and offered to include the song “ Liar ” in the collection “Riders on the Storm” dedicated to some anniversary of Jim Morrison. According to him, he just found us on b andcamp through the search. Apparently, I heard in our sound the influence of The Doors , which I will not deny.

Psychedelic rock is now on the rise - new groups are constantly emerging in the world that become known in Russia. There are festivals that collect thousands of people, the most important thing is Austin Psych Fest in Texas. It does not surprise me that in Russia psychedelic rock is becoming more popular. VKontakte there are publics for several thousand people specializing only in psychedelic rock. I have already stopped monitoring other areas of music.

In the two years that we live in St. Petersburg, we met St. Petersburg groups close in spirit, and realized that there are already enough groups in Russia to make our own festival. And the unification of groups will help their promotion - not only in Russia, but also in the West. Now almost every country has a local psycho-fest-in Denmark, Sweden, but anywhere. I am friends on Facebook with one lady who has a World Psychedelic Festivals website, where there is a contact base for all world psychedelic festivals. When we spent the “needles” , she wrote to us the next day with a proposal to add to her site.

In November 2014, we (Bungalow Bums, Steereo Siberia, The Foxy Riders, Robot Monsta, Woozy Riff, Weo) held the Horner festival: united all friendly St. Petersburg groups performing in this style and gathered a full club of MOD -there the hall accommodates about 400 people, and all overnight, and all night More people have passed through the festival. After the festival, the director of MOD came up to us and said: “Guys, I give you any dates - just make me another such concert.” In March, we will make another “needles” with the handling of a Russian group. Then we want to organize the exit "needles" in Moscow - two groups will be from St. Petersburg, and the rest of the Moscow. And in the summer we want to make a psychedelic Openair.

In Russia, the psychedelic scene is still being formed, and it is difficult to say who the leader. At the Festival "needles", for example, there was no headliner-Prime-Time was given to those who did more for organizing the festival or for various reasons could not perform at the beginning or at the end. Bungalow Bums , say, lost their place and played with the penultimate - already in the morning. The festival is needed to rally groups and audiences, and not to identify the leader. My personal favorites are Stereo groups Siberia and Polska Radio One , because they are the closest to psychedelic style and sound as high quality as possible.

We will never use platforms where promotions are held like "Help us accumulate on our album." This is not a manly way to ask for money for your own pleasure. And music for us is first of all, pleasure.
