The writer Colin McCalou died

Today, January 29, at the age of 77, the Australian writer Colin McCalou, the author of the novel “Singing in the Torner”, died.

Colin McCallow was born in 1937 in the city of Wellington (New South Wales), studied neuropsychology at the University of Sydney, worked in the royal hospital of the Northern coast.

In 1963-1967, McCallow lived in London, then moved to the United States, where until 1976 she was engaged in scientific and teaching activities in the neurobiology department of the Yale Medical School at the University of Yale.

In 1974, the debut novel by McCallow Tim was released, and three years later - the family saga Singing in the Torn Birds. The book became an international bestseller, was translated into dozens of languages ​​and brought the author recognition and glory. In 1983, the novel was filmed in the United States in the form of a mini -script.

Since then, Mackalou has written nine more novels (the last of them, “bitter joy”, was released in 2013), as well as the historical cycle of “Lord of Rome”, a detective series about the captain of the police Karmayne Delmonico and the biography of the Australian diplomat and politician Rodin Katler (1916–2002).
