In connection with the suspension of Russia's participation in the activities of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the head of the Russian delegation to PACE, Alexei Pushkov, said that any contacts between Russia and PACE are being terminated, including those relating to the possibility of the activity of the Assembly's observation missions on the territory of Russia. Pushkov, in particular, said that "it is not necessary to talk about ... contacts of PACE representatives" with the Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko, who is in a Russian pre-trial detention center, the Russian quotes service of Voice of America the parliamentarian. Earlier, before the PACE decided to deprive the Russian delegation of the right to vote and other powers, representatives of the Russian delegation announced that they were ready to apply to the Russian investigative authorities with a request to provide an opportunity for PACE representatives to meet with Savchenko.
