Unemployment in Moscow has grown to the level of 2008

The number of registered unemployed in Moscow as of January 29, 2015 increased to 28.706 thousand people, increasing by 786 people from 22 to 29 of January 22 to 29. This is evidenced by the data of the capital's employment service.

The level of registered unemployment in Moscow as a result rose to 0.4%. According to Interfax, at this level the indicator was in January 2008 before the start of the economic crisis of 2008-2009. Then unemployment in the capital began to grow: by April 2009, it rose to 0.7%, by September 2010-to 0.9%, and by May 2010-almost 1%. For the past few years, the unemployment rate has remained at the historical minimum and in 2014 did not exceed 0.33-0.36%.

The total unemployment rate in Russia in December 2014 (Rosstat data published on January 28) amounted to 5.3% of the economically active population. For comparison, in November, the indicator was at the level of 5.2%, in October - 5.1%, and in September - 4.9%.

In the early December 2014, the Ministry of Economic Development predicted that in 2015, the unemployment rate among Russians will grow to 6.4%. In turn, in January 2015, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov, speaking at the International Economic Forum in Davos, warned that unemployment in the country could jump up to 8%. According to RBC, the Ministry of Labor in the current year expect an increase in the number of only registered unemployed by 650 thousand, to 1.6 million.
