The artist Georgy Kovenchuk died

Today, February 3, at the age of 81, the St. Petersburg book schedule and painter Georgy Kovenchuk died.

Georgy Vasilievich Kovenchuk was born in 1933 in Leningrad, the grandson of the futurist Nikolai Kulbin. He studied at the Central Art School at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. I.E. Repin (IZHSA), in 1960 he graduated from the graphics faculty of IZHS (workshop of A.F. Pakhomov), protecting the diploma of the poster pencil with a series of posters.

A participant in many all -Russian and international exhibitions, since 1956.

In 1975, in the design of Kovevenchuk, the play of Vladimir Mayakovsky “Blop” was published, which became one of the first examples of a holistic artistic solution of the book in the traditions of the Russian avant -garde in those years. The publication of the book was accompanied by censorship prohibitions, and it would be impossible without intercession Lily Brik, Valentina Pluchek and other cultural figures. In 2013, Kovenchuk's illustrations for the “bug” were reprinted at the St. Petersburg publishing house Timofei Markov in the form of a separate folder of silk houses.

The works of George Kovenchuk are stored in private collections and in many museums of Russia, including the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, the Russian National Library, the Mayakovsky Museum, as well as in the US museums, the Czech Republic, France and other countries.
