Actor from Leviathan suits the Samara deputy

The performer of the role of the priest in the film “Leviathan” Valery Grishko filed a lawsuit against the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation against the deputy of the Samara Provincial Duma Dmitry Sivirkin, who accused the actor of dislike for his homeland.

According to Interfax , the plaintiff estimated the size of moral damage at a million rubles. A lawsuit against the Leninsky district of Samara was filed in connection with an article by a deputy, which was published on one of the Samara portals.

Since 2009, Valery Grishko has been the main director of the Samara Academic Drama Theater named after M. Gorky, and has been starred in the cinema. In particular, he played Marshal Zhukov in Karen Shakhnazarov’s film “White Tiger”, Patriarch Nikon in the film by Nikolai Deling Jr. “The split” and the role of Stalin in the comedy of the German director Leander Hausman “Hotel Lux”. This year, the film “Chief Designer” will be released on the screens, in which Grishko played the role of Sergei Korolev.

In the film by Andrei Zvyagintsev , Leviathan Grishko played the Orthodox bishop supporting corrupt officials.

In January, 16 representatives of the Samara public wrote an open letter to the regional Minister of Culture Olga Rybakova, accusing Grishko of "the sophisticated incorporation of the Russian authorities and the Orthodox Church."

Among the signed the letter was Sivirkin. He stated that he "causes bewilderment, as a person who works in the State Theater, allows himself" creative "opuses that insult power of all levels and the church." In addition, in one of his publications, Sivirkin called Grishko "not loving his homeland." The director considered it an insult and announced that he was going to sue.

The film "Leviathan" received a prize for the best scenario in Cannes, was recognized as the best film of several international festivals, became the first Russian winner of the Golden Globe Award since 1967 and was one of the Oscar Nominees.
