Utair employees are stolen in Sudan

Two Russian pilots were stolen in the Sudanese region of the Central Darfur, RIA Novosti reports. According to the agency’s source, the stolen are employees of the UTAIR airline. The carrier works with Yunumid (joint peacekeeping mission of the UN and Afrosyuz in Darfur).

“Representatives of the mission notified the company,” the agency’s interlocutor said. At the same time, according to him, neither with representatives of the airline, nor with the invaders, "there was no connection yet."

Earlier it was reported that the abductors demanded a ransom for Russians. They handed Junumid their requirements, the essence of which was not specified. The UN, in turn, refused to report the details of the abduction, as well as the names of hostages, "based on security reasons and efforts to return to their return."

Armed people in masks abducted the Russians as early as January 29, when they were in one of the young buses in the city of Zalindzhi. The Russian Embassy in Sudan said that all the necessary measures were being taken to free hostages.
