Investigative actions are being carried out at the Kronstadt “Magnit”

In the Magnit Store on Shirokaya Street in Kronstadt, investigative actions are being carried out as part of a criminal case initiated into the death of a pensioner who survived the siege.

Rosbalt reported this on Friday with reference to the press service of the Investigative Committee for St. Petersburg. “The case is being investigated; documents were confiscated from the store and an inspection was carried out,” the press service said.

Earlier this week, employees of the Magnit supermarket in Kronstadt, Leningrad region, suspected an 81-year-old siege survivor of stealing three packs of butter. The police were called and took her to the department, where the woman died. As the prosecutor's office established , the pensioner had no intention of stealing the butter: she did not notice it under the bag in the cart and, when this became clear, she offered to pay, but the employees refused to resolve the conflict on the spot.

The criminal case is being investigated under Art. 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing death by negligence).
