Since February 1, the recruitment of new employees in the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has been suspended. This is how the ministry is preparing for possible layoffs, the press service explained. “If there is a need to reduce the staffing level of the department, vacant staff positions will be eliminated, and current employees will not be dismissed,” quotes Interfax a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The agency’s interlocutor said that the department now has an “acceptable shortage of workers,” but did not name the number of vacant staff positions. It was previously reported that the Federal Drug Control Service may be disbanded in the near future , and the same fate may await the FMS. Allegedly, these services - perhaps some of their employees - will become part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Later, information appeared that reductions were planned in the Ministry of Internal Affairs itself - in the central office and regional headquarters. Official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Andrei Pilipchuk confirmed that the ministry received a document from the Ministry of Finance with a proposal to reduce expenses, but no decisions have been made in this regard yet. “Whether it will be staff reduction, or cost reduction in divisions, or optimization of divisions - all this is under consideration,” Pilipchuk said.
