RFU pays off Capello
The Russian Football Union (RFU) paid off the salary arrears to the head coach of the Russian national team Fabio Capello. The RFU expressed gratitude to businessman Alisher Usmanov, who provided a loan to pay off debts, and to Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko, who turned to Usmanov with a corresponding request.
If we talk about the assessments by the state and the football community of the long-term activity of the current president of the RFU in Russian football and his contribution to its development, then they are well known - these are state, departmental awards, as well as awards of the Russian Orthodox Church.
- On February 5, it became known that Alisher Usmanov agreed to allocate 400 million rubles in the form of a targeted loan from the RFU to pay back Capello's wages. The businessman called the current situation "intolerant and shameful." He urged "to assess the insolvency of the head of the RFU" Nikolai Tolstykh.
- Capello did not receive a salary for six months. Rostrud conducted an audit at the RFU, twice set a deadline for repayment of debts and fined the football union and its leader.
