I looked yesterday
Leviathan Zvyagintsev
. As expected - in the cinema, at the premiere. Not that I am so fundamental, it just happened. A lot has already been said about him, and I will not say anything especially new. First: everything is true. This is how many representatives of the authorities behave.
Let us recall, for example, the deputy mayor in the city of Tulun of the Irkutsk region, which
Killed
“From the feeling of hostility” of the local journalist (killed with a knife), and then received five years conditionally, since “was in a state of affect”.
The mechanism of power - how it is arranged, how it makes decisions - is shown correctly
The unhealthy piety of the mayor-bandit looks somewhat stretched. But we have been observing the similar unhealthy piety of some officials recently. As we observe, and clergymen who use such piety. That is, the trend takes place. It is difficult to say from the side that the mass is a phenomenon in the Russian Orthodox Church or, rather, an exception. But neither Zvyagintsev nor his heroes make generalizations that everywhere. But about officials - they do: "They are kept for compromising evidence, so conveniently." So the power mechanism - how it is arranged, how it makes decisions - is shown correctly.
And by the way, everything does not look at all as hopeless as it is drawn by many. The mayor after a year of the election, and he (attention!) Is afraid to lose them, scares compromising evidence and consists for a long time with the lord and with his security forces, whether to give a “tough answer” or pay off. That is, compromising evidence has some kind of meaning.
The most accurate review was given by my wife: “Previously, in Russian films, the heroes dangled back and forth, and they were all about anything. And here the heroes are somewhat, but there are, and there is evil and good. This is a breakthrough. ” I will add that evil is shown in all its glory. And, in general, our ordinary people who are not very positive in life-they drink, drink, smoke, cheat, cheating. In this, too - "truth of life." The protagonist of Nikolai’s life beats on the head (in the person of the mayor who is going to demolish his house, having escaped with pennies), and he dramatizes vodka a bottle of a bottle and only threatens to kill everyone or burn. In the real story, which formed the basis of the film, “humiliated and offended” the American demolished the bulldozer of the house of his “offenders”, after which he shot himself (I put quotes because it cannot be excluded that the hero had mental deviations).
Here the heroes are somewhat, but there are, and there is evil and good-this is already a breakthrough
Because of this “Truth of Life”, watching a film is not very interesting. In my glory spoiled by Hollywood, the action is quite protracted, there are not enough dialogs. Yes, our dear Russians communicate mainly with the words “well”, “what”, “may you go,” but Shakespeare's contemporaries talked exactly the same, and he would hardly have become a great playwright if he had accurately reproduced this communication in his plays. Therefore, the success of the Leviathan is some mystery to me. Anyone who knows everything without him will not see anything new for himself, who does not know, he still won’t believe, and the film is clearly not good as “entertaining”.
Now, if you remove the sequel - about how the protagonist’s friend, the Moscow lawyer Dmitry, who could not help Nikolai to defend the house, returned from Moscow and took revenge on everyone - this film could become Kassoov. But this will no longer be the "truth of life." Although...
Yes, I’ll add it: even though in the film and “everything is true”, this does not mean that everywhere is such a truth. In large megacities, there are much less lawlessness, and in small towns, power is far from always gangster. But to one degree or another
Leviathan
Always next to us. We live side by side with the Russian hell and somehow we already got accustomed and got used to it.
