A list of 199 strategic enterprises of the Russian Federation has been published
The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation has published a list of backbone enterprises of the country.
The list includes 199 companies. The document states that their profit forms more than 70% of the total national income, and the number of employees is more than 20% of the total number of people employed in the economy.
In particular, the list includes the largest state-owned companies - Gazprom and Rosneft, the most important retail chains - Auchan and Lenta, the main operators of telecommunications services - MTS, Megafon, Vimpelcom and Rostelecom.
The list includes Wimm-Bill-Dann OJSC, owned by Pepsi, but neither Pepsi nor Coca-Cola is on the list, despite the fact that both companies are the largest employers in the Russian Federation.
The list also includes OAO Mechel and UTair, which experienced serious financial difficulties.
The inclusion of an organization in the List does not guarantee the provision of state support, just as the absence of an organization in the List does not exclude the possibility of providing state support.
