Negotiations in Ukraine began in Minsk

In Minsk, negotiations began to resolve the conflict in Ukraine in the so -called Norman format. The meeting is attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande. The broadcast of the opening of negotiations is carried out by RT.

It is expected that the parties will sign an agreement on the ceasefire in the Donbass and the subsequent de -escalation of the conflict. At the same time, the details of the peace plan discussed are unknown.

The Reuters source in the French delegation said that Merkel, Hollande and Poroshenko will conduct a brief conversation before the negotiations with Putin's participation.

Earlier, the media, citing various sources, reported that we can talk about organizing a demilitarized zone in the east of Ukraine or input of the peacekeeping contingent. Kyiv, in turn, opposed the participation of Russian troops in such a contingent.

The Minsk Protocol - a document signed by the parties to the conflict in September 2014 can be the basis for the agreement. It provides for a ceasefire, the provision of broad autonomy and the closure of the border with Russia by the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
