After lessons

The material was prepared as part of the special project “School of the 90s” , launched by Colta.ru with the support of the educational portal “Your History” and the “Lessons of the nineties”.

I deliberately did not burden a photograph from our upcoming publishing projects, the first of which is in terms of the multimedia application “Hooligans-80. Part One. New Wave ” ,“ ordinary ”90s. They are just as contradictory with all “Cherkizons”, poverty, military clashes, political round dances and amusing “new Russians” as they are banal. One part of the population of the collapsed empire continued to live in the past, the second - to build their personal capitalist future, the third - just to divert, having lost the past and hopes for the future, and survive as they can. This photo station is “about unusual”, which has developed in separate subcultures, which existed in parallel, and sometimes perpendicular to everything that happens.

When the Andergraund of the 1980s, which existed hermetically, was depressurized, some of his representatives were abroad, some tried to fit into show business, and the most active dug in clubs and squat, and the tied tangle of relations issued a hundred performances, alternative collections, audio and video statements, paintings and inspections of the environment. They were not aimed at a wide audience, only at those who wanted to participate in this all, understood the presentness above the local level and interpreted it in originally. According to my sensations, this aesthetic and fruitful period ended in 1998, when the communication of artists who lost workshops or squeezed out of clubs was violated, and sometimes more enterprising colleagues who began to live under the new slogan “loot wins evil”. As a result, the new culture of the 1990s turned out to be buried, on the one hand, walking around the bottoms, on the other, by a bourgeois Erzatz and politicized “firecracker” , focused on total imports, which is crumbling right now.

Judge for yourself how convincing it looks now - after 25 years after a social collapse and a breakfast streamlined in the days of the USSR, altruistic relations, after decades of settling dust, illusions, crumbling plaster of imperial greatness and pseudo -bourgeois Ugar.
