The Moscow Arbitration Court on Monday, February 16, ordered the company Ural-Invest, associated with the former general director of Bashneft Ural Rakhimov , to pay 70.7 billion rubles in favor of AFK Sistema Vladimir Yevtushenkov as recovery of losses incurred as a result of the seizure shares of Bashneft, Interfax reports .

The defense of Ural-invest will appeal this decision, said the defendant’s lawyer. “We will fight as long as we can,” he stressed.

At the court hearing, representatives of Ural-invest filed a petition to disqualify the judge. This was due to the fact that the judge refused to consider the defendant’s requests, in particular, the request to familiarize himself with the case of AFK Sistema at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office or to transfer the consideration of the case to Bashkiria, where the consideration of the case of the Ural charitable foundation was scheduled for March 16 Ural-invest and AFK Sistema, reported TASS with reference to a representative of Ural-invest. The court rejected the request for recusal.

At the end of December, Sistema filed a claim in arbitration against Ural-Invest LLC, demanding to recover from it the losses incurred by AFK as a result of the seizure of Bashneft shares. The company estimated its losses at 70.7 billion rubles.

At the end of October 2014, the arbitration court ordered AFK Sistema to transfer its Bashneft shares to the state. Sistema decided not to appeal this decision, but instead demand compensation for losses from the counterparties from whom the shares were purchased. In early December, Sistema complied with the court decision, and Bashneft ceased to be an independent company.
