The head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, was wounded during the battle near Debaltseve, a TASS source said. RIA Zakharchenko 's assistant told Novosti that he was wounded in the leg. He was hospitalized in a hospital in the city of Alchevsk.

According to Interfax, Zakharchenko was wounded by shrapnel. LifeNews reported on a bullet wound.
