A year ago, on February 22, 2014, by a resolution of the Verkhovna Rada, it was announced that the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, "in an unconstitutional way, removed himself from the exercise of constitutional powers." This marked the victory of the "Revolution of Dignity", which began with protests against Yanukovych's refusal to sign an agreement on Ukraine's economic association with the European Union. On the eve of February 21, Yanukovych left Kyiv and did not make himself felt during the day, which was the reason for depriving him of his powers.
