© Medici.tvOn May 11, the elections of the new chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra will be held, which will lead him since 2018.
This was reported by the newspaper Berliner Morgenpost .
Unlike other orchestras, the musicians of the Berlin Philharmonic themselves choose the main conductor. To do this, on the appointed day of voting, all orchestras are required to gather (now there are more than 120).
The current chief conductor of the orchestra Simon Rattl was chosen in 1999 and has been holding its post since 2002.
Initially, he was supposed to resign the authority in 2012, but in 2008 the orchestra voted to extend the contract until 2018. Subsequently, the English conductor announced that he did not intend to renew the contract again and return to his homeland, where the London Symphony Orchestra will be headed .
Among his possible successors are Gustavo Dudamel, Andris Nelsons, Christian Tileman and Marisa Jansons, who after the 2015 season leaves the post of chief conductor of the royal orchestra Consetgebau.
