According to RIA Novosti, the press secretary of Roskomnadzor Vadim Ampelonsky, the department signed an appropriate order, the registration certificate will be transferred in the near future.
CNN stopped broadcasting in the cable and satellite networks of Russia on December 31, 2014. The reasons were not named, but it is known that the channel could not receive a broadcast license and broadcast on the basis of his own letter about what is in the process of obtaining permission.
Last week , Turner BroadCasting System Europe Limited , which belongs to CNN , sent an application to Roskomnadzor to renew the registration certificate and receive a universal broadcasting license. Now the company is negotiating with Roskomnadzor on the resumption of broadcasting in the Russian Federation.
According to the law, from the moment of filing an application for a universal license, Roskomnadzor is obliged to consider it within 30 days and decide on the issuance of a license. A universal broadcasting license makes it possible to spread a channel in a cable environment throughout the Russian Federation.
