Vladimir Putin established a new professional holiday in Russia - a day of forces of special operations. The corresponding decree dated Thursday is published on the portal of legal information. The holiday is celebrated on February 27.
On the night of February 27, 2014, Russian special forces in the form without identification marks captured the Verkhovna Rada and the Cabinet of Ministers of Crimea . This action began the operation of the power seizure of the Ukrainian region by Russia.
In the evening of the same day, the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea at an extraordinary session in the captured building in the absence of a quorum were appointed Prime Minister of the region of the leader of the Russian Unity of the Russian Unity, Sergey Aksenov, and also decided to hold a referendum on May 25 on the status of a peninsula. At the entrance to the Rada, Russian militants took away all the means of communication from the deputies.
In the future, the “referendum” was transferred twice to a closer date - first on March 30, then on the 16th. This "referendum" has become a formal basis for the rejection of Crimea from Ukraine. On March 18, 2014, the illegitimate leaders of the Crimea and Sevastopol signed with Vladimir Putin the agreement on the inclusion of regions in Russia. On March 21, this was approved by the relevant constitutional law.
The annexation of Crimea laid the foundation for a sharp cooling of Russia's relations with democratic countries.
