Leonard Nima died

On Friday, February 27, in Los Angeles at the age of 83, the American actor and director Leonard Nima, the performer of the role of Spock in the original series and films of the Star Trek franchise (Star Trek) died.

According to BBC , the cause of death was a chronic obstructive lung disease, diagnosed with the actor last year.

Leonard Nimo was born in 1931 in Boston in a family of immigrants from the Soviet Union. From early childhood he dreamed of a stage, played in amateur performances, took acting lessons at Boston College, at the age of 18 he left for Hollywood.

There, the creator of the Star Way, Jin Roddenberry, drew attention to Nimoi and invited him to play in the series of Spock from the planet of the Volcano. In the role of Spock - a calm, insightful and brave science officer on the starship "Enterprise" - Nimo starred in 1966-1969 in all 79 episodes of the original series, receiving three nominations for the Emmy Award.

The actor also participated in other film and television projects, including the series “Mission Impossible” ( Mision: Impossible , 1969–1971).

In 1979, 1982, 1984, 1986 and 1989, Nimo played the role of Spock in full -length films in the Star Way universe. He worked as a director on two of these films. In the full -length Star Way of 2013, the actor appeared in the role of Spock for the last time.

Nimo was the director of several Hollywood films, including the hit of 1987 “Three Men and Baby” ( Three Men and A Baby ), in the same year he was awarded a star in the Hollywood Avenue in Hollywood.
