year 2000. Death of a company of Pskov paratroopers in Chechnya

15 years ago, on March 1, 2000, the 6th company of Pskov paratroopers, led by Lieutenant Colonel Mikhail Evtyukhin, and the 2nd platoon of the 4th company, led by Major Alexander Dostovalov, died in a battle with Chechen fighters near Hill 776 near Argun. 84 paratroopers were killed, including Evtyukhin and Dostovalov. 6 paratroopers survived. The militants, according to them, lost 20 killed, and all of them were buried near the battlefield. The federal side estimated the losses of militants at 400-500 people. 22 paratroopers were awarded the title of Hero of Russia (21 - posthumously). The rest were awarded the Order of Courage.
