The Autonomous Non-Profit Organization "Memorial Center for the History of Political Repressions" Perm-36 "announced the cessation of its activities and the beginning of the self-destruction procedure.
The Board of ANO “Perm-36” made this decision a year after the “actual excommunication of an autonomous non-profit organization from the Memorial Museum created by it”.
“All attempts at negotiations with the administration of the Perm Territory on the preservation of Perm-36, as a real museum of the history of political repression in the USSR and as a unique historical monument, were unsuccessful. All the possibilities of ANO "Perm-36" to build a partnership of the authorities and the public in this matter are exhausted, ”the museum said in a statement .
The memorial complex in the territory of the former Soviet correctional labor colony "Perm-36" was created by the efforts of social activists in the 1990s. Since then, almost all objects in the camp have been restored and restored.
The exhibits of the museum are the property of ANO “Perm-36”, but the land and buildings of the complex belong to the state and were provided by the ANO “Perm-36” for unlimited and gratuitous use.
In 2013, the museum was transformed into a budget organization, financing of restoration and restoration work ceased. ANO "Perm-36" offered the government of the Perm Territory an agreement on social-state partnership. Negotiations lasted several months, but the agreement was never signed.
