
PixabayUnder the abbreviation of CWC (Communication with Computers), one of the most interesting and promising developments of the agency for promising defense research developments of the United States (DarPA) is hidden. Their innovation department in information technology (I2O) is currently engaged in designing and testing unique algorithms for creating software, which will help to develop communicative abilities from computers and similar machines, and raise them to the human level. Imagine that the PC speaks your native language and can support the conversation, not moving, as before, to the language of zeros and units.
Ideally, the computer should well understand the artistic, slang and everyday speech of a person, to recognize quotes, humor and hints, that is, he could imitate the process of communication between people - this is a matter of more than one decade and labor of more than one group of scientists. Any language is a completely logical structure, there is no doubt that the machine can master the grammar, but how to make it well oriented in the outskirts of human speech. The dialogue itself between two people is necessarily reinforced from the outside with an intuitive perception of hidden information, an understanding of replaced concepts and other common -ordinary communicative functions for a person, which are completely deprived of the hard drives of computers, created to operate with mathematical data.
The development of specialists from I2O is now in the initial stage of implementation, but a number of experiments have already been conducted and there are even some achievements, the actual viability of which will be tested during two more future experiments in the field of dialogue communication between natural and artificial intelligence.
“Communication for us is so natural that we don’t even notice how many additional mental activities are required for its implementation,” comments Paul Cohen, one of the leaders of the CWC program, “this clearly demonstrates, for example, the usual practice of talking on a mobile phone, while driving a machine. In this case, with very rare exceptions, a person has practically no reserves of the “computing power” of the brain, which leads to scattering attention, entailing a decrease in control over the situation. ”
So, the first test, which soon should successfully overcome the CWC system would be an experiment with stories.
This test should show whether the system can finish the proposal begun by man. There will be several such proposals and a story that both participants in the experiment will simultaneously tell him in advance. The performance of such actions will seem very simple - because it is common for human individuals to adapt to the interlocutor, and friends often understand each other at a glance and continue each other's thoughts, but for the computer it is a hyper -sized and integrated, multifaceted task. It is necessary to be able not only to recognize the speech, but also to understand the thought that a person wanted to convey in the spoken set of phrases, and then to arrange his own phrase, which is a continuation of the established thought from the moment at which the person finished.
The second test, which the CWC system will be subjected to, will be an experiment, at first glance, not regarding communicative communication. In the course of it, the computer will have to perform a detailed analysis of many models of complex molecular processes that occur during the conversion of healthy cells of the body into cancer cells. This analytical task lies in another paradigm with the area of dialogues and communication, but during its solution the same cognitive knowledge and skills are involved, which give people the opportunity to judge the believability of various proposed options.
Further improvement of this unusual, but timely in today's realities, the program will soon be a dream of millions about communicating with robots, operating systems and equipment, the examples of which we have seen only in fantastic films.
