The court removed the accusations from the director of Tangayzer

Today, March 10, the World Court of the Central District of Novosibirsk, due to the lack of composition of the offense, decided to stop the production against Timofei Kulyabin, director of the play “Tangeyer” at the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater, as well as against the director of the theater Boris Mezdrich.

Earlier, the court introduced to the materials of the case the conclusion of experts - the associate professors of the religious studies of the Moscow State University and the RSUSU Vladimir Vinokurov and Boris Falikov, who came to the conclusion that in the production of Wagner’s opera Tangeiser at the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater there is no desecration of religious symbols.

At the end of February, according tothe statement of the Metropolitan of Novosibirsk and Berd, the prosecutor’s office started administrative cases about the intentional desecration of the image of Jesus Christ against Kulyabin and the director of the theater Boris Mezdrich, and the Investigative Committeebegan checking the “Tannhaiser” under the criminal article on freedom of conscience and religious associations.
