Kapkov left the post of head of the Moscow Department of Culture

The head of the Moscow Culture Department, Sergei Kapkov, left his post, reports Interfax. Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin accepted Kapkov’s resignation, and also announced his gratitude. Alexander Kibovsky, who led the Moscow City Council, was appointed the new head of the department.

Kibovsky expressed the hope that industry workers would take the proper understanding of personnel permissions, the agency reports. In addition, the appointed head of the department said that his priorities in the new post will be openness and accessibility in communicating with Muscovites.

Information about the upcoming resignation of Kapkov has repeatedly appeared in the media. Last week, TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak reported on the plans of the head of the Department of Culture of the capital on Twitter, but the city hall denied these messages, saying that the resignation decision was not made.

39-year-old Kapkov served in the Department of Culture since 2011. Previously, he was the director of the Moscow Central Penacent Commission named after Gorky, and before that, a State Duma deputy.

During the leadership of Kapkov, a whole series of innovations was adopted by the capital's Department of Culture. In particular, he contributed to the creation of pedestrian zones in the center of Moscow, and also engaged in the improvement of parks. At the initiative of Kapkov, the entrance fee to Moscow museums during the New Year holidays was canceled. In addition, in several Moscow museums and theaters there were loud personnel permutations.

Kibovsky led the Moscow City Council since 2010. Before that, he headed Rososhranchulture. Under him, the “ruble per meter” program was introduced, according to which investors who are ready to restore cultural heritage objects are provided, a preferential rental rate is provided.
