A year and a half ago, Novaya Gazeta declassified the "troll lair" - a semi-secret office in the St. Petersburg district of Olgino, where in three shifts they hung noodles on the ears of network users, publishing (for a moderate fee) pro-government posts and comments.

Since then, the political atmosphere in the country has changed dramatically. If earlier political harassment, including online, simply prevented the oppositionists from living, now it has directly and obviously turned into a real physical threat.

Thanks to colleagues from the newspaper "My District", St. Petersburg, we managed to get acquainted with the "temniki" for St. Petersburg trolls and get a list of more than five hundred "network fighters".

It is easy to check the reliability of the information empirically: it is enough to compare the theses of the “terms of reference” and the posts of randomly selected network characters from the list.

Curious details emerged. Almost all bloggers live in St. Petersburg; they created their accounts in 2013. They do not occupy a high place in the LiveJournal rating (the customer "takes" their number), periodically diluting "household posts" ("how to do a pedicure at home" or "bake a tender and fluffy biscuit") with their versions of political events.

We studied how these “delicate and fluffy” creatures reacted to the main tragedy of recent days - the murder of Boris Nemtsov.

Terms of Reference No. 1. Opposition

The main idea: we conclude that the murder of the oppositionist Nemtsov was not beneficial to the official authorities, it is obvious that this is a provocation.

The following lists the abstracts that bloggers should appeal to, links to publications on the Russia Today website and the Vzglyad newspaper, and keywords opposition, Boris Nemtsov, Nemtsov's murder, provocation, opposition in Russia. Using them is mandatory so that the post can be easily found using a search engine like Yandex.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, the organizers managed to move the protest action to the very center of the capital. In addition, the murder of Nemtsov allowed many oppositionists to "light up" in the media, declare themselves and criticize the authorities. It is possible that the funeral procession will be accompanied by new provocations, the purpose of which is to undermine the situation in the country. Then it will definitely become clear what Boris Nemtsov became a victim of.

Blogger Maria Ivanova (nickname CaraDoxee5) writes on various topics: exercises for the eyes, chocolate for weight loss, how to meet guys. But from time to time the girl is carried away into politics, and she begins to think about why the United States needs Syria and who killed Boris Nemtsov? Now Russia has again become a country to which the West is showing a negative. This is a clear provocation aimed at a surge of discontent among the opposition, who will start calling for rallies and marches to overthrow the government.

Conclusion : Western leaders eagerly seized on the news of the murder of a Russian opposition leader. This event was an occasion to interfere in the internal affairs of the country. One of the first to react to the news was in the United States. State Department chief John Kerry explicitly hinted that Nemtsov's assassination would have repercussions and be "deeply felt both in Russia and around the world." And the President of Lithuania hastened to accuse Moscow of "terror" against its own people. Considering that Russia managed to find a common language with Europe regarding the solution of the Ukrainian conflict, now there is a reason for a new wave of accusations, which will undoubtedly lead to an aggravation of relations between Russia and the West.

There is an agency in St. Petersburg that, for at least 20 million rubles a month, draws cartoons of Obama and provides comments to the sites of all popular media in the country. For the first time we are publishing photos, videos and documents from the new “troll lair”.

Every day at 8.55 in the morning on Savushkina Street in one of the residential areas of St. Petersburg, you can observe a strange ritual: young people rush along the sidewalk, holding each other's hands, as in the famous scene in the Louvre from "Outsiders". The personal composition and the number of runners change, but the destination remains unchanged - a gray four-story building without signboards and identification marks (officially - an object of unfinished construction). There are no universities or other centers of attraction for the young workforce in the district, so it is impossible not to notice such activity.

There are reasons for the rush, which is unusual by the standards of students and ordinary office workers.

For being late for the day shift at Internet Research LLC, which occupies all 2,500 square meters of a gray building, they are fined 500 rubles. It is understandable: on the Internet right now, someone is wrong, in the information war, seconds count.

At the end of February, Aleksey (not his real name) came to work at 55 Savushkina for the last time.

Periodically, lectures given by such employees are given by specially invited, not too public political scientists. Commentators pass written tests for loyalty and understanding of the situation. The questions are complex, for example, about the political situation in Syria and Iran.

Behind another door, artists draw Navalny and Obama, or rather, put the heads of politicians to the bodies of animals.

The department next door is doing the work that was relevant 10 years ago: winning the top of LiveJournal. Normal blogger norm: 12 political posts in a two-day shift. In such posts, Internet Research employees criticize Ukraine, the EU, Obama, Alexei Navalny and the Russian opposition in general. They refer to the "Doctrine 2050" - a new conspiracy theory in the spirit of the Dulles plan. They praise Vladimir Putin and, perhaps even more so, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

"Elite" bloggers develop their own characters, and several employees of "Internet Research" can stand behind one LiveJournal. For example, Candatora First (http://cantadora-1st.livejournal.com/) is a fortune teller who sees prophetic dreams twice a week about the completely ruined Ukraine and the European Union.

The predictions are accompanied by analytical calculations gleaned from the air of RT, a state television channel focused on the West. Despite the "humanized" content, subscribers to "elite" blogs are mostly the same fake accounts.

Office-combat plankton is proud that several blogs managed to advance in the top 1000 LiveJournal. This is achieved by simple multiplication of comments under the posts. If a blogger collects a dozen comments under the “Good Morning” entry, then he and the commentators are probably sitting opposite each other in the Novoderevensk business center.

Trolls have an elite. These characters are allowed to blog on their own behalf, that is, formally they are not even fakes. At the same time, they work from the office, receive about 40 thousand rubles a month, and once a week, between posts like “Memories of the Army” and “Fitonyashki eat dumplings,” they eliminate the political illiteracy of their narrow audience.

One of the few signs on the door in the business center reads: "Do not enter, filming in progress." The content produced in this account is not yet presented to a wide audience. In the future, top LJ characters should get their own video blogs.

Internet Research LLC (TIN 7813585038) was founded in March 2014. The company acts as a successor to Internet Research Agency LLC (TIN 7805627478), which was based in Holguin. The legal address of Internet Research, according to commercial registers, is Bolshaya Raznochinnaya Street, 17, room 1-N. The founder and general director is Mikhail Bystrov, born in 1958, retired police colonel, former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Moskovsky district of St. Petersburg.

The total cost of renting the entire building at Savushkina 55 is about 3 million rubles. At least another 16 million rubles should be spent on wages for at least 400 employees of the company. Despite the solid background of Internet Research, headhunting sites are filled with negative reviews (about the company: salaries are paid in cash from under the table, and fines are rumored to go into the pockets of middle managers).

Plus dirty jokes about the personal life of the murdered. It was a dance on the bones that continues to this day. Even if one of them sincerely regretted the murder, work is work.
