The authorities are again offered to ban smoking driving

The Russian Youth Union (RSM) invites deputies to introduce a ban on smoking at the wheel in order to reduce the number of accidents on the inattention of drivers, Interfax reports.

"Smoking is dangerous, as it distracts drivers from the road and drive a vehicle, for example, at the time of lighting or while the cigarette gets out of the pack," the RSM appeal to the chairman of the State Duma Committee Evgeny Moskvichev, who is at the disposal of the agency.

In the RSM, it is also noted that tobacco smoke can get to the driver in the eye and lead to "loss of orientation in space", and the smoking driver in a bus or a minibus violates the law on limiting smoking tobacco.

Smoking behind the wheel is no less dangerous than talking on the phone that are already prohibited by the rules of the road, they think in the RSM and ask the Duma to consider the possibility of introducing a similar prohibition and a fine.

Recall that this is not the first attempt to introduce a punishment for smoking cigarettes at the wheel. A few years ago, a bill was introduced to the State Duma, which offered a punishment for smoking drivers in the form of a fine of 500 rubles.

According to the proposed bill, the car owner, for the first time with a cigarette at the wheel, will be fined 500 rubles, a second offense will cost a thousand, or even two. Fines will be introduced if the bill is supported by most Russian deputies.

The creators of the bill are convinced that the punishment for smoking at the wheel is necessary, since the cigarette driver is distracted from the road, "the vehicle (if the speed is 60 km/h) runs over 16 meters within one second. That is, in a few seconds of lighting, the vehicle can drive 50-60 meters," the authors explain the explanatory note.

However, in the relevant committee of the State Duma, the innovation reacted skeptically and the bill was buried.
