Sales of the domestic Nissan Tiida start in Russia

On March 12, the Nissan automaker will announce the start of sales of the Russian-assembled Tiida hatchback. Its production began on January 19 at the plant in Izhevsk. The head of Nissan in Russia, Philippe Saillard, announced this to TASS today.

“Along with the Sentra model, which is produced in Izhevsk, tomorrow we will officially announce that we are launching the Tiida, which is a hatchback based on the Sentra. In Europe, this model is presented under the name Pulsar,” Saillard said.

He clarified that the Russian-assembled Tiida will have local specifics: all technical content - electronics, suspension - are made exclusively for Russia, on the principle of the Almera sedan, which was designed for Russian conditions.

“Production has already begun, tomorrow we will announce the start of sales,” Saillard added.

In 2014, 74 thousand cars rolled off the IzhAvto assembly line, including the Lada Granta in a liftback body, as well as the Nissan Sentra model. In September 2015, production of the new Lada Vesta model will begin at the Izhevsk Automobile Plant, and the company is now preparing a site for its production.

Nissan plans to produce 90 percent of the cars sold on the Russian market in Russia by the end of 2016.
